Physiotherapy
Equine and canine physiotherapy originated from human physiotherapy.
What helps humans performance in sport, recovery, physical relaxation and mental alertness is equally beneficial for animals.
I use different techniques to target my treatments according to the animal’s needs:
- massages
- stretching
- drainage
- warm-up
- seaweed wraps
- medicinal leeches...
The sessions have an impact on:
- muscles
- ligaments
- joints
- tendons
- tissues
- skin
- psyche
These techniques improve and prevent:
- muscle strength
- joint mobility
- locomotion
- relaxation or stimulation of muscle tissue
- elimination of toxins (lymphatic drainage)
- proprioception (ability to locate itself in space, ensures balance and controlled movements)
- general flexibility
- blood circulation
- mental well-being
- prevention of muscle contractures
Laying one' s hands on an animal is a very serious gesture. A thorough understanding of its anatomy, biomechanics, psychology, the inter-connectivity of its organs and mind are an essential prerequisite for the work of the physiotherapist.
